More Science Fun, Week 3, Wednesday

By now you know that our day always starts with Tefila & Torah.
Today's Torah was parashat Vaetchanan. This parasha has a lot of wonderful content. I decided to focus on the recounting of the Aseret HaDibrot and the words of Shema, two of the cornerstone of our Torah lives.

We played a game to work on learning the Aseret Hadibrot in order. To read all about our Torah session, check out my other blog, kosherkidz.blogspot.com

After the game, because of Shema, we made mezuzah cases.

Because this is Science Week, the mezuza cases are made out of test tubes. Torah u'Mada!

Supplying klaf is not in the camp budget, so parents need to take care of filling the cases.

And then on to more science.
We are preparing for the science fair, which will be at BCMH on Friday at 2:45.
The campers are preparing in different ways.
Some looked through science books for inspirations and then tried experiments.

 This was 'crazy foam'.

Others wrote research papers on their findings. Jessica wrote a very interesting paper about hurricanes.

Some had a plan and were able to execute their experiments based on prior experiences. These girls led others in a method of recording bubble size and shape.

This team is building a model volcano, which may erupt soon.

And these scientists are comparing the states of matter with oobleck.
Chemists used the reaction of baking soda and colored vinegar to create beautiful science.

While the girls were doing this research, the boys were swimming and vice versa. Therefore I have no pictures of the male researchers. You will have to come to the Science Fair to see their incredible work.
